Swimmers adrift at sea have their prayers answered by a boat named The Amen

A pair of Florida teenagers skipping school found themselves washed out to see when they went for a swim, only to be rescued by a boat called The Amen.

The 53-foot yacht came to the aid of the teens, who’d been in the water for two hours, off the shores of Delray Beach, Fla., according to CNN. High school students Tyler Smith and Heather Brown, who had been pulled two miles out to sea by a nasty current, were shivering incessantly and could barely walk when they were rescued by the Amen, according to the report.

“The first words that came out of my mouth were, ‘God is real,'” Brown said.

The ship’s owner, Eric Wagner, wrote about coming across the treading teens while setting sail for New Jersey on Facebook.

“Most unbelievable day, this really happened: We’re bringing my boat ‘the Amen’ from Delray to NJ,” he wrote. “The wind is 15-20kn and the seas are rough but we decided to go out anyway. An adventure.”

Despite the crash of waves and roar of his engine, Wagner said he heard desperate cries for help from about 200 yards away. He and his crew spotted Smith and Brown and headed in their direction.

“After what felt like forever we finally made our way while loosing (sic) them in the swells ever few seconds,” he wrote. “We tossed them jackets then a line and pulled them back to the swim deck.”

When Wagner reached the students, they were too weak to pull themselves onto the boat and Wagner initially struggled to speak, he said. The high school senior said The Amen was answer to a prayer.

“Exhausted and near the end the boy told me he called out for God’s help,” he said. “Then we showed up.”
