Celebrated over four days, the weekend has included pageants, parties and Paddington Bear.

What did the Queen wear on her final balcony appearance?

Known for her love of wearing colour, the Queen appeared on the palace balcony in a signature bright outfit to end this weekend's Jubilee celebrations.

Her Majesty wore a Stewart Parvin outfit – a vibrant green double crepe wool dress and coat, adorned with the Bow Brooch.

She teamed it with a Rachel Trevor-Morgan hat with a black pom pom.

The look is brought together with her iconic three-strand pearl necklace - an accessory she is rarely seen in public without it. She was just 25-years-old when her father died, and the pearls she received from him as a young girl are a reminder of the bond they shared.

She is said to have loved the necklace so much that she had a backup made so as not to wear out the original. She was later gifted a third, similar, necklace and reportedly wears all three interchangeably.

The bright green colour of today's outfit would have been carefully chosen so as not to blend in with the background - and ensure as many of the gathered crowd as possible could spot her. At just 5ft 3in, the monarch is known for trying to make herself as visible as possible during public events.

She once joked, "If I wore beige, no one would know who I am."

She has moved away from print and pattern over the years in favour of a less busy look.

A fan of colour blocking, she frequently wears one shade, incorporating overcoats and decorative hats, allowing her to be seen easily in a crowd.

Speaking in the 2016 documentary The Queen at 90, the Countess of Wessex said: "She needs to stand out for people to be able to say, 'I saw the Queen.'"

Dancers, daleks and Danger Mouse - what happened in today's Jubilee pageant?

The Queen herself made a surprise appearance at the end on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Free meals handed out at Preston's party as community comes together

By Inzamam Rashid, news correspondent

Not even the rain could stop celebrations for 70 years of reign.

Preston's Platinum Jubilee party was completely packed out as people across different communities came together in with 'The Big Lunch'.

It was just one of the 85,000 lunches taking place across the country, but the organisers say it was the biggest in the country with thousands turning out to enjoy foods and entertainment from so many cultures.

It's hard to ignore the backdrop with which the Platinum Jubilee falls on - a deepening cost of living crisis.

Straight back to normality as Met Office warns of grey Monday

There might have been a few moments of respite this weekend, with sunny weather on Thursday and Friday, but the grey weather looks set to continue as the UK returns to work tomorrow.

Monday morning will be rather cloudy with some outbreaks of rain across the central swath of the country.

A thunderstorm warning is currently in place over southwestern England and remains in force until midnight tonight.

Meanwhile, rain and possible flooding could hit eastern England from 7pm with a warning in force until 4am.

In pictures: Royal family shares touching moments during Jubilee weekend

It has been a weekend of touching moments, particularly among the younger royals.

One of the most popular has been the youngest child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

When he wasn't entertaining the nation with his funny faces, four-year-old Prince Louis was spotted cuddling up to mum, Catherine as they watched the Jubilee Pageant together, and balancing on Grandpa Charles's knee.

Here are a few of the sweetest moments from the Royal family this weekend.

There was only one finale the UK wanted to the Jubilee weekend - and they got it

By Rhiannon Mills, Royal correspondent

There was only one finale the crowds wanted and they got it.

The Queen again stepping out, with her three direct heirs, Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince George, alongside her.

Camilla and Kate were also there, the important supportive wives, along with Charlotte and Louis. It was a snapshot of the future on a palace balcony that's been such a focal point for so many milestones of the past 70 years.

Even for them, that moment must have been breathtaking, as a crowd of thousands cheered for the monarch.

During the weekend the pendulum had swung from official moments to the more relaxed and funny, and at the center of it all was the Queen's family.

In the week leading up to the celebrations, a documentary of her home videos had given us a hint of the tone she wanted to convey. A woman who wanted to show us that she couldn't have achieved this momentous milestone without the love of her family.

And she alluded to that in her message to say thank you. "While I may not have attended every event in person, my heart has been with you all; and I remain committed to serving you to the best of my ability, supported by my family," she wrote.

Throughout the weekend her relatives have stepped in for her, at St Pauls for the Thanksgiving service and at the Epsom Derby. And the younger royals were despatched to other parts of the United Kingdom, carrying out engagements that her and Prince Philip might have done in the past to make sure the whole country felt involved.

The way they rallied around her this weekend reminded me of the week that Prince Philip died when a number of them released messages promising to look after their mummy or granny - and for her Platinum Jubilee that's just what they've done. At 96 things she has always done in the past aren't quite so easy now, you could see that as she slowly walked out onto the balcony.

For all of the pageantry, carnival, and British eccentricity of the weekend, it will be the more subtly delivered message that will have a lasting impact. A weekend where the Queen has shown us she has faith in her family and wants us to believe in them too.

Always with one eye on the future, she has once again made history, marking a spectacular 70 years as Queen.
