Authorities ID 2nd victim killed at family Easter gathering in Bessemer

Authorities have released the name of a 22-year-old man killed during a family Easter gathering in Bessemer.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office Tuesday identified the victim as Kendrick Felix Morrisette. He lived in Birmingham and was one of two people killed Sunday night at the holiday celebration.

Bessemer police were called just before 7:30 p.m.  to the 10 block of First Street North. Lt. Christian Clemons said the victims were at a large family Easter gathering when shots were fired.

Morrisette was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:45 p.m. Kamisha Malea Davis, 27, was taken to UAB Medical West where she was pronounced dead at 7:38 p.m.

Authorities said Davis was the sister of Morrisette’s girlfriend. Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive, but Clemons said several people have been interviewed and are cooperating with investigators.

Police are asking that anyone with information, or video of the Sunday-night incident, to come forward.
