5 concerts that are selling out fast

Few things are more frustrating to a music fan than hearing that a favorite act is coming to town, only to find out that the show is sold out. We’re here to help you avoid that pitfall — and the overpriced secondary ticket market — by consulting local experts like Mike Kersys of Live Nation, Christine Varriale of Bowery Boston, and Shawn Robidoux of The Wilbur. Below, check out a handful of live shows we’ve heard are dangerously low on tickets.
The Waterboys
Since 1983, Mike Scott and The Waterboys have been bringing together the folk and rock music of Scotland, Ireland, and England, creating a sound that is both unique and timeless. The band doesn’t make it stateside all that often, so Robidoux suggests you grab a ticket before doors open on Wednesday night. Bloc Party
Beloved British indie act Bloc Party sees a pair of anniversaries this year: They’re celebrating 20 years as a band and 15 years of their breakthrough debut album, “Silent Alarm.” The celebration comes to Boston by way of a headlining gig at the House of Blues and Kersys notes there are still some tickets left, but not many. Steve Hackett
You don’t think you know Steve Hackett, but you do. He’s the former lead guitarist of Genesis, and he’s performing their classic album Selling England by the Pound in its entirety. There are still tickets available to see this guitar legend live, but Robidoux suggests you pick them up quickly in case they sell out. City and Color
City and Color is the musical moniker of Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green; you might also know him from You + Me, his one-off collaboration with pop star P!nk. Green is giving his City and Color songs the full-band treatment this fall, and Varriale says you can still grab a ticket for the upcoming Royale set. Kim Petras
Germany-by-way-of-L.A. pop sensation Kim Petras blends EDM with dance-pop quite successfully: she’s topped Spotify’s charts a few times over the last few years. As a testimony to her popularity, her Clarity Tour sold out one night at Royale, so a second night was added. That will probably sell out too, says Varriale.
