The white woman who tossed a beverage on a black man for kneeling during the national anthem is a student at a Baptist university (as is her friend who filmed the encounter), and she has publicly used the n-word multiple times on social media, according to multiple reports.

Last week, Savannah Sugg tweeted this video of her schoolmate Haley Perea throwing a drink on a man at a Los Angeles Lakers preseason game. The man was sitting during the national anthem, and while Sugg filmed, Perea took it upon herself to solve the problem this way:

“This is for the national anthem, you pieces of shit,” Becky No. 1 can be heard saying as she throws the drink. Sugg (Becky No. 2) captioned the photo: “Take a kneel for the land of the slaves. Disrespect our flag and our country and that’s how we’ll react.”

After Sugg had the brilliant idea to highlight her caucasity by posting the incident on Twitter, so many people objected that the couple deleted all of their social media profiles and disappeared into the shadows of UzBeckystan. But this is social media, where nothing escapes the gravitational pull of the internet sleuths. Black Twitter reacted with the usual appropriate, restrained response:

Details soon emerged about Sugg and Perea. According to the Twitterverse and Patheos, the two are students at California Baptist University, an educational institution that seeks to provide “a Christ-centered educational experience that integrates academics with spiritual and social development opportunities.”

Well ... at least they tried.

Friends report that they are both Donald Trump supporters (does anyone have a set of pearls that I can sarcastically clutch?) who were stars on the CBU volleyball team, which is evident in the way Sugg set up Perea to spike that beverage on the unsuspecting men.

The Tab has at least 14 documented incidents of Perea using the n-word on social media. To be fair, she mostly used the version with the “a” at the end, probably saving the more formal version for close friends, family members and church meetings.

Or maybe she was just waiting for Twitter to switch to 280 characters.

“Too many niggas around here,” Perea said in one tweet. “Not about that.” In another, she boasted: “I love calling my roommate ‘nigga.’ She freaks out every time [monkey emoji, laughing emoji]!”

The two men who were doused with the soft drink—Matthew Brady, 20, and Jiahn Talebi, 21—said that they intentionally sat during the anthem. “We’re joking around and talking,” said Talebi. “We don’t want to show respect for the national anthem. I sing out, ‘Home of the slave,’ because that’s what it should say.”

In response, California Baptist University issued a statement:

On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, an incident occurred at a pre-season NBA basketball game at the Ontario Citizens Business Bank Arena. While this was not an event affiliated with California Baptist University, two current CBU students were involved.

On Thursday morning, October 5, 2017, CBU learned of this incident and initiated an investigation and plans to take appropriate action. CBU does not condone or support the behavior depicted in the recording of the incident.

CBU takes this matter very seriously and is cooperating with law enforcement and arena management.

As expulsion looms over Perea’s and Sugg’s heads, there is no truth to the rumor that they are being considered to replace Rex Tillerson and Steve Mnuchin for secretary of state and treasury secretary, respectively ...

Yet.
