The much-loved annual Christmas in the Fort celebration is spreading out, with the nearby Legacy of the Lakes Museum hosting the Parade of Trees.
The Parade of Trees showcases Christmas trees decorated by area businesses and organizations, and guests get to vote for their favorites. A lighted walkway with signs will lead visitors to its new location, said Runestone Museum Executive Director Amanda Seim. In the past, it has been set up in the large building on the grounds of Fort Alexandria, managed by the the museum.
The event will run from 3-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive on lighted-up ATVs from the R.O.A.R club at about 3:15 p.m. and will hear Christmas wishes in the fort's large agricultural building along with live music, Seim said.
At 3:30 p.m., the Zion Children’s Choir will perform, followed by Carolers of Alexandria at 4:15 p.m.

Christmas lights along Broadway will go on at 5 p.m.
Expect a petting zoo, coffee, cider and cookies and a vendor, Doug’s Kettle Korn.
For the first time ever, the event will be zero waste and fully compostable thanks to Pope Douglas Solid Waste, Seim said.
During the event, Broadway Street will be closed between Second Avenue and the museum parking lot.
