Detectives sought one suspect in a shooting at a strip mall in Costa Mesa that sent one person to the hospital early Sunday, June 16.

Police were summoned to Vista Plaza, 811 W. 19th St., between 12:00 a.m. and 12:30 a.m., Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Chris Walk said. There, in a parking lot, officers found a 23-year old man who had been shot. He was taken to a hospital, said Walk, who described the victim’s injuries as non-life-threatening.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a confrontation at a bar across the street on Friday at about 11:30 p.m., officials said in a statement. From there, the victim and one suspect traveled to the parking lot, where multiple rounds were fired from a handgun, said the release. Several bullets struck nearby vehicles and businesses before the suspect fled the area.

No arrests had been made in the shooting as of Monday evening, police said. A detailed description of the suspect was not immediately released.

Authorities called the shooting an isolated incident.
