Gabriel Taylor returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown to start the third quarter, helping Gulliver Prep pull away from Calvary Christian Academy 35-7 in a battle of unbeatens.

Amin Hassan had two touchdowns catches and Anton Hall had 123 yards rushing and a score as the Raiders improved to 8-0, while host Calvary fell to 8-1.

Down 21-7, the Eagles were looking to score on their first drive to open the second half, but Taylor intercepted Gabe Conento’s pass and raced into the end zone, to give the Raiders a three touchdown lead.

“That was huge,” said Gulliver Prep head coach Earl Sims. “It’s gotten to a point where we look for that type of play to happen at some point and he’s got the instincts. He’s a phenomial player, special talent and we are happy he’s on our side.”

Calvary desperately tried to stay in the game, but failed to come away with points, being stopped on 4th down at the Gullver 23 late in the third quarter. On the Raiders next series, Hassan hauled in Carson Haggard’s pass and raced it 54 yards for a 28-point lead.

“We had lots of issues — kicking game, offense, defense and that starts with me,” said Calvary coach Kirk Hoza. “They are a very good football team and I tip my hat to Gulliver Prep, but it gives us a chance to know we have to get better.”

After Gulliver opened the game with a 7-0 lead, it was looking to go up 14-0, but Calvary’s Jonathan Lane intercepted a pass and returned it 92 yards for for the Eagles lone score.
