Tesco is recalling its packs of six All Butter Croissants over fears that some were incorrectly packaged with almond versions.

The supermarket issued the recall on Tuesday warning that almond is not declared on the packaging and customers with allergies should not eat them.

Tesco is now asking anyone who has bought the product to return them to a store for a refund. No receipt is required.

The affected croissants are in six-packs, weighing 255g and batch code LL 111.

They cost £2.50 and have a best before date of September 2022.

'Tesco is recalling Tesco Frozen All Butter Croissants 6 pack because it may contain almonds (nuts) not mentioned on the label', the company said a statement.

'Due to a packaging error some packs may have been incorrectly packed with Tesco Frozen Almond Croissants, which contain almonds (nuts).

'This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to almonds (nuts).'

Tesco and the Government's Food Standards Agency have issued an urgent recall notice and a 'do not eat' warning.

Those allergic to nuts who come into contact with them may go into anaphylactic shock, which can be lethal.
