Pueblo Community College has named its new executive dean for the Fremont Campus in Cañon City.
In a press release Tuesday, the college stated Linda Stetter began her duties Nov. 1, replacing Lana Carter, who retired in June after five years with PCC and almost 20 years in education.
The college touts Stetter as an “experienced academic, business owner and minister.”
“Linda brings a wealth of higher education experience to her new role, along with tremendous passion and compassion for our students, colleagues and the communities we serve,” said PCC President Patty Erjavec in the press release. “She complements our leadership team, and I look forward to her great contributions to the role and mission of PCC.”
Stetter spent six years as the director of mission integration and spiritual care at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo. She has served as a senior pastor in Massachusetts and worked as a chaplain in several organizations there.
Stetter spent nine years at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, Nev., where she held positions as a business professor, department chair, assistant dean and interim vice president for academic and student affairs. She was the director of the Technology Resource Center at Simmons College in Boston from 2000 to 2003.
Stetter also held positions as owner, president and CEO with several trucking and shipping companies between 1982 and 2002.
“I am excited for the opportunity to serve PCC Fremont campus and the wider community as executive dean, and I truly appreciate the warm welcome I have received from everyone here in Cañon City,” Stetter said. “My hope is to continue to support the wonderfully effective partnerships that have grown between the community and the college and to continue to create strategies that support student success at all levels.
“My passion will be to continue expanding partnerships with local businesses, schools and agencies so that our work environments will be vibrant ones where our young adults will choose to stay and prosper.”
Stetter has a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in English, both from Eastern New Mexico University. She received her Master of Divinity in theology from Boston University School of Theology.
The community is invited to a reception for Stetter at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 6 on the PCC Fremont Campus, 51320 W. U.S. 50, as part of the school’s holiday ceremony.
