There’s no denying that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are OTP—that’s clear from their new Netflix docuseries—but turns out, the universe was up to something when it made that love connection. I know, I know, but hear me out—or rather, hear out intuitive astrologer Rachel Lang:

“This couple was definitely brought together for a purpose,” says Lang. Because Pluto, the planet of transformations, makes more than a few appearances in both their birth charts, Lang knows the Duke and Duchess were always destined to be a team of “change-agents” that “makes a difference and uses their influence for good.” So, basically, Prince Harry was pretty on the nose when he implied that he and Meghan were destined to be together during the first episode of the show.

Meet the Experts:
Rachel Lang is a certified professional astrologer and author of Modern Day Magic: 8 Simple Rules to Realize Your Power and Shape Your Life.

Lisa Stardust is a professional astrologer based in New York City and author of The Astrology Deck: Your Guide to the Meanings and Myths of the Cosmos.

But their marriage hasn’t always been easy (what with rumors of Palace feuds, racist tabloid articles about the couple, and stepping down from their royal duties to move to California). However, because Prince Harry and Meghan's cosmic compatibility helps them stay grounded and navigate even the toughest challenges as a team.

WH tapped Lang and professional astrologer Lisa Stardust to analyze Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s birth charts. Ahead, they explain why this couple is a match made by the stars, and what role the planets play in their marriage.

Harry was most likely first drawn to Meghan because of her ascendant sign.

In their docuseries, Harry & Meghan, which chronicles the couple’s love story from Instagram (yes, Harry did indeed slide into Meghan’s DMs—celebrities, they’re just like us!) to California, Harry outlines the similarities between Meghan and his mother, the late Princess Diana.

In fact, Harry was probably first drawn to Meghan because she reminded him so much of Princess Di, explains Stardust. Meghan has a Cancer ascendant, also known as your rising sign, which determines how you present yourself to the world and people’s first impression of you, and Diana had a Cancer Sun. When they first met, Harry probably picked up on Meghan’s Cancerian energy.

ICYDK, Cancers are “nurturers who want to give their all to others,” says Stardust. “Cancer ascendants [in particular] are people who wish to take on the weight of the world, and who take a big responsibility in wanting to help others achieve greatness.” This zodiac sign is also ruled by the moon, which in astrology represents the mother, so Meghan’s nurturing nature likely had Harry head over heels at first sight (er, scroll).

The Sun brings balance to their relationship.

“Prince Harry’s Sun is in practical, analytical Virgo, his Moon is in stable, grounded Taurus, and his ascendant is in Capricorn,” says Lang. “All of this earth sign energy shows he can provide the family with a secure, stable home.” Family is a huge priority for Harry— one of the main reasons he and Meghan stepped down from their royal duties was to protect their kids from the British tabloid media, which has been following the royal family for years, much to their detriment, according to the docuseries.

Harry’s heavy earth influences make for the ideal foil to Meghan’s fiery qualities (ahem, her Sun and Mercury are in Leo). “She’s here to create, to express herself, and to be a voice for change in the world,” says Lang. And Prince Harry’s always there to back her and her goals. In this relationship, whatever one needs, the other provides—usually without even meaning to.

Saturn gives them staying power.

“Saturn is like the glue that sticks a relationship together,” Lang explains. And Meghan’s Leo Sun—representing the ego—is perfectly angled from Prince Harry’s Saturn, the planet of structure and obligations, in Scorpio, which gives their relationship a fated quality. When they met, “they may have felt like they have known one another their whole lives,” says Lang.

It also helps that Prince Harry’s Saturn is located 60 degrees from Meghan’s Venus in Virgo (that’s a very good thing in astrology, trust). “This influence shows the couple’s ability to work together toward a common goal and create stability for their family—emotionally and financially,” says Lang. “They have a genuine respect and love for one another that allows them to attend to the practical aspects of life, making them true partners.”

Lastly, Meghan’s Mars sign, the planet of action and drive, in Cancer is in a favorable position from Prince Harry’s Saturn. Lang says this means the couple can take on most any challenge that comes their way. And once that’s been handled, they prioritize having fun as a family.

Venus fuels their passion in a major way.

Venus is all about attraction, and that’s not something Meghan and Prince Harry are lacking in the slightest. Because of the way Meghan’s Libra Moon and Leo Sun interact with Prince Harry’s Venus in Libra, and the way Prince Harry’s Virgo Sun interacts with Meghan’s Venus in Virgo, Lang knows the couple feels most at home when they’re together.

“In addition, Meghan’s Venus is in a square aspect with Harry’s Mars [in Sagittarius],” Lang points out. “Though we usually think of square aspects meaning tension, when we’re talking about the two relationship planets, this aspect means chemistry.” Why? Because that tension creates passion. Rather than pulling them apart, they’re motivated to move through the tension and hold on to each other as tight as they possibly can.

The asteroid Chiron helps them heal from past trauma.

“Chiron is the wounded healer, and it symbolizes some of our earliest experiences of pain, loss, abandonment, or struggle,” Lang explains, and it’s all over Prince Harry and Meghan’s charts. For reference, Harry’s Chiron is in Gemini, while Meghan’s is in Taurus.

“When Chiron is well-aspected in compatibility, the couple can help one another heal from the past,” says Lang. The asteroid represents the hurt we hold on to from our past and the ways in which we grow from it and use those learning experiences to help others. “The influence of Chiron in [the Duchess and Duke’s] charts shows their ability to make significant contributions to the world because of this healing process,” says Lang, and because of the hardships they’ve dealt with together.

Jupiter and Neptune influence their passion for activism.

Speaking of making significant contributions to the world, the Duke and Duchess were destined to make a global impact, according to their birth charts.

Meghan’s Jupiter, the planet of abundance and expansion, in Libra is conjunct with her Moon, which means she wants to take care of the world, says Stardust: “That’s just who she is; she was born to be a sort of Mother Teresa, and she’s not happy unless other people around her are happy.”

Moreover, both Harry and Meghan were born with their Neptune, the planet of ideals and dreams, in Sagittarius—the rule-resisting archer of the zodiac—making them purveyors of truth and information, shares Stardust. Translation: They refuse to stand for injustice, and will do everything in their power to ensure people’s freedoms. “Neptune is the ideal believer, and they really believe they can change the world,” she adds.

As parents, the Duke and Duchess hope to raise their children to also speak up for what’s right. According to Stardust, that won’t be a problem for young Lilibet, whose big three are: Gemini Sun, Leo rising, and Aries Moon. Translation: “She’s really spunky, emotional, and passionate.” If this were the Addams Family, Lilibet would definitely be Wednesday, she explains.

“There is a really big karmic connection between them and their children, and it’ll be interesting to see how they grow up as they’re definitely raising their kids to speak their minds,” says Stardust.

Harry and Meghan are definitely speaking their minds with this new series, and I’m sure I’m not the only one excited for them to continue telling their story—their way.
