Weird But True

Mom accidentally wraps Christmas presents with X-rated wrapping paper

We love a cheeky Christmas story around this time of year. And while we’re usually guaranteed lights accidentally shaped like a penis or dress-ups and ornaments not meant for children, one mum has given us something a little different. And she didn’t realize until it was too late.

Queensland mum-of-four Nicole was busy wrapping her Christmas presents this week when she had to take a second glance at a few images on what she thought was fairly innocent and cute wrapping paper.

What Nicole didn’t realize, after already wrapping a few presents, was that when she was purchasing the gift wrap from novelty store Typo, she actually selected something that was a little TOO merry.

The paper, innocently named “Christmas Wrapping Paper Roll” online actually contained X-rated cartoon images. One of an aroused snowman (hehe) and another of a randy reindeer mounting another. Aww… to make a baby Rudolph, you guys!

I only noticed when I was wrapping my 3rd present!

Speaking to Kidspot exclusively, mom Nicole said she didn’t actually realize that the wrapping was a little rude until she was deep in wrapping her presents.

“I purchased them online and only noticed when I was wrapping my third present – thankfully the first two were for me and my partner!” she laughed.

“When I first saw it I had to send photos to my friend and mother to see if they noticed anything off while wiping laughing tears from my face.”

Nicole said she wasn’t planning on ditching the paper completely, but with children aged between four and 16, she wasn’t keen on running the risk of her kids asking about the birds and the bees over Christmas lunch.

“I have only wrapped small presents in it now with strategically placed name labels,” she said of her work-around.

“I find it hilarious and have showed everyone. I put the post up on social media in case someone hadn’t noticed or may have left it too late to buy more paper … and to give people a laugh!”

Shoppers are getting caught out by the X-rated paper

Feeling the need to share the laughter, Nicole posted snaps of the paper in the Christmas Mums Australia Facebook group.

“To anyone who purchased this cute wrapping paper from Typo… just a little thing or two I noticed…” she captioned the two shots.

And she wasn’t the only one who was loving the funny find. Over 340 members of the group commented on Nicole’s post – most of them appreciating Typo’s cheeky humor.

“This is the best!” one person commented.

“That’s gold! I love it,” added another.

And others laughed: “It’s all in the details” and “Explain this to your kids! Sex Ed at its finest!”

As the laughter and jokes kept coming, many shoppers said that others shouldn’t be so surprised by the images given that the store Nicole purchased it from is known for selling cheeky items like this.

“Typo is known for its slightly inappropriate, quirky things. I think it’s hilarious now I’ve seen it,” a shopper commented.

“Have you ever actually looked around Typo? It’s definitely not a children’s store lol,” another said.

Even Nicole herself said she should’ve known she could’ve been buying something more suited to adults when she added the items from the notoriously cheeky store to her online cart.

“Nothing surprises me anymore with Typo, they are honestly great for adult humor, I’m the goose who didn’t look more closely when I was looking at ordering the paper,” she said.

Many others have made the same mistake

Regardless of what people thought of the X-rated paper, many parents said they appreciated the mum’s heads up because they also made the same mistake she did without realizing what the images were showing.

“Dead I just wrapped my cousin’s 3-year-old son’s present in this,” a mom chuckled.

“Literally bought it today as my ‘Santa’ wrapping rethinking this decision,” another mom shared.

And another shocked shopper added: “Oh my god my mother in laws present is wrapped in this.”

At least people will have something fun to talk about come Christmas day!
