'This will not stop me': Philadelphia Eagles' Carson Wentz tweets message to fans

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz expressed a resolve to rebound from a torn ACL in a video he posted to Twitter on Monday night, marking his first public comments since he suffered the season-ending injury.

"I can promise to everybody, to all my fans out there in the Philly area, in the North Dakota area, all across this country, that this will not stop me," said Wentz, who starred at North Dakota State before joining the Eagles as the second overall pick in the 2016 draft. "Going forward, I will come back stronger than ever."

Wentz, an MVP candidate and the central figure of the Eagles' rise to the NFC East title this season, tore the ACL in his left knee when he absorbed two hits while diving into the end zone during the third quarter of Sunday's win over the Rams.

In the video, Wentz said his Christianity provides him faith that he'll come out of his rehab stronger. The 24-year-old face of the Eagles' franchise conceded that it'd been a tough day for him, but he said he would remain close to the team as the Birds gear up for their first postseason appearance since 2013.

Wentz also offered a vote of confidence for his backup, Nick Foles.

"Nick's going to do an amazing job and lead this team now," Wentz said, "and I'm just going to be there to support and help in any way I can."
