Weekly White House Report Card: ‘Home of the Whopper’

.

This week’s White House report card finds President Joe Biden in miserable shape.

House Republicans are starting up their investigations into his problem policies and decisions, he’s getting crushed in early 2024 primary polls and the price of eggs continue to soar.

Democratic pollster John Zogby highlighted Biden’s poor showing in a New Hampshire primary poll that had the president coming in behind one of his cabinet secretaries. He gave Biden a grade of “C-,” and said, “voters still see the country headed in the wrong direction and are worried about the future.”

Conservative analyst Jed Babbin graded Biden’s week an “F,” and highlighted the truth-stretching out of the administration. He wrote, “You didn’t need to go to Burger King this week because the White House was the ‘Home of the Whopper.’”

Mixed numbers and a mixed week for President Joe Biden.

His overall approval rating for the polls conducted this past week were at 44%, showing no change from the week before, though better than they have been over the last couple of months. But voters still see the country headed in the wrong direction and are worried about the future.

There was bad news in New Hampshire with Democratic primary voters preferring Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg ahead of Biden by five points and neighboring Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren clustered with the president. Biden, receiving only 18% support, will have a hard time raising his performance in a state he and his party have ’dissed by not honoring the longtime Granite State tradition of being the first primary in the nation.

In addition, another poll had Biden behind former President Donald Trump by three points and tied with Gov. Ron DeSantis. In both instances, Biden is only polling 40%-41%. Ouch.

Talk about World War III is real, not just among the Tin Foil Hat crowd, and that never helps.

The president had to be buoyed a little by the discovery of classified papers at the Indiana home of former Vice President MIke Pence. I am not sure that independents care about Classified Papers Gate and may wonder what that has to do with the price of eggs. But have you looked at the price of eggs?

You didn’t need to go to Burger King this week because the White House was the “Home of the Whopper.” The lies came so thick and fast that it was hard to keep up.

The debt ceiling debate goes on and exiting White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain said that Republicans want to cut Social Security and Medicare, both false and crazy. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Republicans want to raise the price of gasoline, which was equally dumb.

The biggest lie came from Homeland Secretary Alejandro Majorkas. He claimed that the number of illegal border crossings of “key nationalities” plummeted after the DHS began its new “parole” system. What that means is that the number of illegal aliens coming into the country hasn’t dropped at all. Majorkas’s team is converting — via a new kind of “catch and release” program — the illegals into legal crossers. The new system allows illegals to make appointments to surrender to border agents after which they are released “on parole” pending their asylum claims being heard. It’s a huge scam to cover Biden’s posterior (and Majorkas’s). It does nothing to reduce illegal aliens coming into the country. That number is actually increasing.

The only truthful statement came out of the Department of Energy. Publishing a congressionally-mandated report, DoE admitted that Biden’s cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline cost thousands of jobs and billions of dollars. Well, duh.

The Biden classified documents scandal just won’t go away. Nor should it. The FIFTH search of Biden’s Delaware home resulted in FBI seizure of “six items.” Those six were boxes of documents containing dozens or hundreds of classified papers. Some of the documents reportedly come from Biden’s days as a senator and as former President Barack Obama’s vice president. He had absolutely no authority in either office to declassify anything. Biden’s media pals are now claiming that the government classifies too much stuff. That may be true, but it doesn’t clear Biden of possible criminal acts.

The economy grew by 2.9% in the last quarter of 2022, which is good, but economists are almost unanimous in saying a deep recession is coming this year. Meanwhile, Biden — having said that he wouldn’t send U.S. tanks to Ukraine because they’d cause World War III — is now sending over 30 of them. They won’t get there until late this year, so they won’t help the Ukrainians fight off the expected renewed Russian attacks in the spring.
