BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore chef is among the finalists for the 2020 James Beard Awards. Known as the "Oscars of the culinary world," the awards recognize people and establishments that promote culinary excellence.

The list of finalists was delivered on Twitter, due to the coronavirus pandemic and the need for social distancing.

"Many restaurants are closed and some don’t know if they will ever reopen," the foundation said in a statement Monday announcing the finalists. "Some have pivoted to take out, while others are feeding frontline workers and those in need. Still others are contemplating how or if they can reopen."
