Best Of Mass BBQ: Vote for the best barbecue in Massachusetts

MassLive collected nominations from across the state in an effort to find the best barbecue in Massachusetts. Now, it's time to vote.

Three main types of barbecue will be judged: Ribs, brisket and pulled pork. Taste, texture, technique, quality of the meat and wood, balance of the smoke, meat and spice, presentation and atmosphere will all be considered.

Sides, rubs and sauces will also be an important part of naming the best barbecue in the state. Think homemade barbecue sauce, spicy or sweet seasoning, collard greens, coleslaw, mac & cheese and cornbread.

We're looking for pit masters across the state who know how to smoke meat with patience and expertise, serving up barbecue that's balanced and not overshadowed by sauces or flair.

Get your votes in before our judges, Kit Maher and Alex Parnicky, hit the road. The top 10 places -- voted on by you -- will each be visited and have a chance to serve up their best barbecue before a winner is crowed.

Voting is restricted to one ballot -- for up to 10 barbecue places -- per day. Go ahead and cast your votes in the poll below. If viewing on a mobile device, click here.

Voting closes Oct. 22 at 10 a.m.

Note: All nominations were collected by commenters on an initial post, which went live on Oct. 1, and through our social media platforms. The nominations round is closed.
