Kim Jong Un oversees testing of ‘powerful’ North Korean missile

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Wednesday oversaw the testing of a new kind of missile.

The dictator called the test-fire of the tactical guided weapon “an event of weighty significance,” according to state media Korean Central News Agency.

He said it would “increase the combat power” of North Korea’s army.

This is the first weapons test made public since the second summit between the US and the hermit kingdom in February.

KCNA didn’t describe the weapon exactly but said it has a “peculiar mode of guiding flight” and “a powerful warhead.”

The word tactical implies a short-range weapon, instead of a long-range that could be a threat to the US, Reuters said.
