MUSKEGON, MI – The Lakeshore Art Festival will assemble hundreds of mini canvases created by the community for a public art project.
The collaborative mosaic is this year’s interactive art initiative hosted by the festival.
Over 1,500 pieces of reclaimed wood are available for the community to paint, color, decorate or embellish.
The 4-by-4 wood tiles will then be assembled into a large display at the festival.
To get involved in the public art project, community members can pick up wood tiles through June 24 from:
- Art Cats Gallery, 1845 Lakeshore Drive
- Arts Council of White Lake – Nuveen Center, 106 E Colby St.
- Blended Furniture, 730 Seminole Road
- City Center Art Gallery, 356 W. Western Ave.
- City of Muskegon Farmers Market, 242 W. Western Ave.
- Muskegon Museum of Art, 296 W. Webster Ave.
- Read Muskegon, 26 E. Broadway Ave.
The Lakeshore Art Festival will fill West Western Avenue and Hackley Park with fine art, craft booths, an artisan food market and street performers on June 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and June 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The canvases can be returned on both festival days at the roundabout of Third Street and West Western Avenue where the mosaic will be displayed.
Previous public art projects at the festival include a community canvas project, chalk-the-walk and the door project.
