Daughters tend to sense when something is up with their dads.

In part one of Keeping Up With the Kardashians: About Bruce,  premiering tonight on E! at 9 p.m., an emotional Kendall Jenner recalls being a little kid and sensing that father Bruce Jenner had a secret.

"I just remember being little and not really knowing what was going on," the 19-year-old model, the second-youngest of Bruce's six children, reveals in the special. The footage was taped before the Olympic gold medalist went public with his journey in a game-changing interview with Diane Sawyer, during which he confirmed that he was transitioning into a woman.

(At this time, Bruce Jenner has not chosen to publicly identify as a woman and so E! News will continue to refer to him as Bruce and use male pronouns, until he indicates otherwise.)

"We would find things like makeup or lipstick, and we thought he was having an affair at one point," Kendall says, blinking back tears. "And we didn't know what to do, we didn't want our family to be broken up."

Bruce and Kris Jenner were married for 22 years before separating in 2013; they divorced last year. In addition to having Kendall and Kylie Jenner together, Bruce is also stepdad to Kourtney, Kim, Khloé and Rob Kardashian and he's dad to daughter Casey and sons Burt, Brandon and Brody from his first two marriages.

"We love our dad very much, he has the biggest heart and all we want is for him to be happy. If he's happy, we're happy," Kendall and Kylie, 17, said in a statement released during the Sawyer interview special.
