'Last Message Received': A Gutwrenching Reminder Of What Really Matters This Thanksgiving

Tell the people you love how much they matter.

The holidays can be hard on different people for different reasons, but too often many of us have one unfortunate thing in common — we take it out on the people we love the most. The Last Message Received Tumblr account reminds us not to take these interactions for granted, because you never really know what's going to happen.

Founded by 15-year-old Emily Trunko, the blog publishes anonymous submissions of "the last messages people received from ex-friends or ex-significant others, as well as from deceased friends, significant others, and relatives." The emotional screenshots may vary in experience from coping with breakups to coping with death, but they all show us how important it is to tell those closest to us how much they matter.

Trunko told BuzzFeed that's exactly what she's learned since starting the Tumblr: "Every message I send to them could be the last one I ever exchange, and every message I receive could be the last one I receive."

So before you get in that text argument with your bestie or bite your boyfriend's head off for not totally understanding, think about these exchanges and if you'll regret it. While life can change so fast, we all still have the ability to slow down and appreciate each other. It's important to practice just that during this special but stressful time of year.
