Tyler Michell, a 16-year-old Benedict Cumberbatch look-alike, has become an Internet sensation.
Since garnering attention for bearing a striking resemblance to the Sherlock star, Michell now has more than 18,000 Instagram followers and frequently gets stopped on the streets of Norwich, Norfolk, by Cumberbatch fans wanting to hear about his latest films (and sympathize with him about his best actor Oscar loss to Eddie Redmayne).

“It started out as a joke — my close friends and family would tease me and say I looked like Benedict Cumberbatch. I guess I look like him a little — but I really didn’t take it seriously,” he told The Telegraph. “Now people are messaging me and saying I should have won the Oscar. I get girls from Brazil saying the want to meet me in the U.K., which is crazy as I’m just a teenage boy sitting at home.”
Though Michell is a fan of the British actor, he admits that he himself doesn’t see the resemblance.

“A couple of people have suggested me being a ‘Teenlock’ — a young version of the detective,” he shared. “I’d love that but I don’t think it will happen.”
Michell’s mother, Nicola Alderton, also added, “When one of his friends pointed it out, we were gobsmacked. It could be quite surreal having a Hollywood superstar look-alike in the house, but he’s just our Tyler.”
