I knew a girl in college who went through the McDonald's drive-through whenever she was hungover just for a Diet Coke. She couldn't get this Diet Coke anywhere, no. It had to be from McDonald's.

She, like many other people, feel strongly about McDonald's Coca-Cola tasting better than anyone else's.

But why is McDonald's Coke so freaking good? Well, they have the way they store it and serve it down to a damn science.

Last year, McDonald's answered the question "Why does the Coca-Cola taste so good at McDonald's?" on the FAQ section of its website. A recent Spoon University post pointed out the findings and now the internet is at peace. It's not all in our heads, it's true. McDonald's Coca-Cola is the best after all. Here's exactly why:

1. McDonald's has Coca-Cola delivered in stainless steel containers, unlike most fast food restaurants, which have Coca-Cola syrup delivered in plastic bags. Stainless steel containers help preserve ingredients, making the soda taste fresher.

2. McDonald's cares about two things: fresh water and a perfect temperature. The company spends a lot of money on a filtration system, so the water that mixes with the syrup is fresh, clean water. That same water is run through an insulated tube that keeps it cold.

3. McDonald's prechills soda syrup before it enters the fountain dispensers, to make sure it's fresh AF.

4. You might have noticed that the McDonald's straw is a bit wider than other fast-food restaurants straws. That's on purpose. McDonald's says it's so "all that Coke taste can hit all your taste buds." McDonald's is not fucking around with straws (cc: the Shamrock Shake Straw).

So, there you have it. McDonald's soda FTW.
