Conservative nonprofit Judicial Watch Wednesday demanded a federal investigation into the Democratic National Committee for intentionally hiring an illegal immigrant.
The DNC hired illegal immigrant Cindy Nava in June to help craft the committee’s 2016 political message, allegedly in violation of federal law prohibiting foreign nationals from participating “directly or indirectly in the decision-making process” of election-related activities.
Judicial Watch filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission last week pointing out the hire and asking for an investigation. “The DNC has actively and willingly promoted its act of lawlessness,” the complaint reads. “Therefore, we request that the FEC investigate this act.”
The Washington Post reported the hire in June, referring to Nava as an “undocumented” immigrant who would work with Democratic political operatives “to craft policy platforms.” (RELATED: Hillary Hires Ex-Illegal As Latino Outreach Director)
“Nava is still waiting to find out if her DACA application will confer the coveted legal status she has sought for so long,” Arelis Hernandez reported, referring to President Barack Obama’s 2012 executive order exempting young illegal immigrants from deportation.
The complaint alleges the DNC “knowingly hired” an illegal immigrant to help set its policy agenda and in so doing “willfully and knowingly” violated federal law and policy.
“No wonder this nation has a border and an illegal alien crisis,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement Wednesday. “Not only do we have a major political party knowingly employing an illegal alien, but also openly boasting about it to the nation’s press.”
