“AS a company, we believe in the greatness of every Filipino child,” said Communications Associate Director for Wyeth Nutrition Philippines, Michelle Pador. “As an innovative company, we believe [in] helping spark the wonder and awe in children, and also encouraging and supporting the Filipino innovative spirit.”

In fulfillment of this vision, the company is set to stage the 2nd National Kids’ Innovation Day. However, unlike last year, where Wyeth awarded young Filipino innovators who have done the country proud by competing in international contests, this year is the first year the company will be screening entries alongside the Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology, among other institutions, in the hope of finding the top three outstanding kid innovators in the Philippines.

The company is searching for innovative science-related projects by kids aged 9 to 14 years old, in grades 4 up to 8. These kids can join alone or as part of a team made up of two to five members. Their project must have been developed or created within three years before joining the search, and endorsed by the Science Department Head of their respective schools.

The requirements for joining include a one to three minute video presentation in which the child introduces and demonstrates the project. The child must also write a brief detailing the following: (1) Who is/are the participant/s and the adviser?; (2) What is the innovation called?; (3) What is its purpose?; (4) Who can benefit from the innovation and how?; and (5) How was it developed? (elaborate on the process). An endorsement letter from the school’s Science Department Head should also be secured. The written brief, video, and endorsement letter must be e-mailed to [email protected], with the subject title “Search for the Wyeth Nutrition Kid Innovators.” The deadline of entries is on May 30.

The top three winning entries shall receive a cash prize of Php 100,000 each and a trophy, along with a science and technology showcase worth Php 100,000 for their respective schools.
