Now that the 2017 Alabama high school baseball season is in the history books, here's the postseason Power 10, which ranks the top 10 teams regardless of classification.

10. Hueytown

Record: 34-8

The skinny: The Golden Gophers made another deep playoff run, falling to Cullman in the Class 6A semifinalsBlake Hawsey's throw to the plate to retire Cullman's Owen Lovell and force extra innings in Game 3 of the semifinal series was clearly one of the most dramatic plays of the 2017 season.

9. Faith Academy

Record: 30-8

The skinny: The Rams finished as the Class 5A runner-up for the second straight season, but their playoff run included four wins by the 10-run, mercy rule and three shutouts.

8. Gordo

Record: 34-7

The skinny: The Green Wave knocked off No. 1-ranked T.R. Miller in the second round, slipped past American Christian in the semifinals and swept past Piedmont to win the school's first baseball title since 2011.

7. G.W. Long

Record: 37-6

The skinny: The Rebels enjoyed a perfect postseason, going 10-0 in the playoffs and capping it with Collin Searcy's no-hitter in the championship clincher. G.W. Long pitched four consecutive shutouts in the semifinal and championship rounds.

6. Auburn

Record: 28-12

The skinny: The Class 7A runner-up scored at least nine runs in six of 10 playoff games and pushed Hoover to the limit in an epic championship series.

5. Russellville

Record: 38-10

The skinny: Russellville won its third straight Class 5A championship, beating Faith Academy in three games. Auburn signee Cody Greenhill sparkled all season, finishing 12-2 on the mound and capping it with a dominating two-hitter in Game 1 of the championship series.

4. Decatur

Record: 32-5

The skinny: Decatur blitzed through the regular season with only three losses before falling to Cullman in the Class 6A quarterfinals. Decatur senior Tanner Burns showed – a flame-throwing pitcher and hitter – why he's one of the state's leading Mr. Baseball candidates.

3. Hoover

Record: 41-11

The skinny: As the playoffs began, not a single member of Hoover's 2017 baseball team had ever won a playoff series. Today, five weeks later, Hoover stands as the Class 7A champion after beating Auburn in three games.

2. Cullman

Record: 38-9

The skinny: Yes, the Bearcats finished as the Class 6A runner-up for the second straight season while playing for a state title for the third straight year. The Bearcats endured the death of a teammate Curtis Wilson in a car crash, but dedicated the season to his memory.

1. Helena

Record: 38-6

The skinny: The Huskies finished 12-1 in the playoffs, dropping one game to Cullman in the championship round, and won the Class 6A championship in dramatic fashion. Helena spent much of the season ranked among the nation's top 25 teams and showed why in the postseason by allowing only five runs in its first eight postseason games.
