Jay Z Brought Out Meek Mill to Perform 'Dreams and Nightmares' Intro and Philly Lost It

Jay Z brought out Meek Mill during Made in America 2017, and Philadelphia was here for it.

One of the best parts of going to any Jay Z show is the distinct possibility he'll bring your city's most prominent hip-hop artists out on stage with him. He has the sort of cache that makes it hard to turn him down if he asks you to make a brief appearance, which leads to a lot of unforgettable concert moments.

Philadelphia was treated to one of those moments during Jay's closing set at Made in America on Sunday, when he brought out Philly's own Meek Mill, who has popped up alongside Jay during previous stops in the city. And with Jay taking a brief intermission to play hype man, was there any other song for Meek to perform than the classic intro to Dreams and Nightmares?

Made in America is always filled with plenty of out-of-towners, but that intro is always going to kill with a Philly hip-hop crowd. You can still hear it pouring out of cars in South Philly on a warm summer day, and the raw energy from the back half of the song continues to translate well in concert. It was made even better with Jay hanging around for the performance, shrouded in a hoodie and playing the most overqualified hype man in the world.

That wasn't the only memorable moment from Jay's closing set at Made in America 2017. After closing out the initial set, he meandered over to the smaller stage at Made in America, and put on an encore performance featuring almost all B-sides, a far cry from his usual encore sets. He busted out deep cuts like "Don't You Know," a song that found its home on soundtrack to Roc-A-Fella's 2002 movie, Paid in Full, as well as his infamous freestyle over Joe Budden's "Pump It Up."

You can watch Meek and Jay's performance up top, and forever be jealous you weren't there if you decided to do something boring like go to the beach this weekend.
