Trending News: Taiwan Is Planning To Build A Sex Theme Park

Why Is This Important?

Because this would definitely be a new destination to add to a travel bucket list.

Long Story Short

The administration director of a new theme park planned for Taiwan has confirmed to CNN that it will include a "10,000-meter-square sex theme park."

Long Story

Taiwan has a plan in the works for an erotic entertainment attraction on the island’s Southwest Coast National Scenic Area that will include a 107,639-square-foot sex theme park, according to CNN.

The park's administration director, Cheng Rong-fong confirmed that the project is in the works, but will only come to fruition if it can get support from the local government.

If constructed, the park would consist of a "Taiwan Romantic Boulevard" — a sightseeing route with four zones stretching across three counties. Each zone would have a different theme: "dating paradise," "scenic spot for wedding gowns," "silk road of love" and the proposed sex theme park.

The tentative name for the park in its proposal is "Garden of Eden" and it would be modeled after other famous sex parks like Jeju's Loveland in South Korea and Vigeland Park in Oslo, Norway.

New York City recently dipped a toe into the sex park world with the Museum of Sex's "Funland" — a carnival-esque sex fairground that features a bouncy castle made of boobs and a climbing wall made of butts and other appendages and orifices.

Online, the proposal has been met with mixed sentiments. Some are excited to see Taiwan take the plunge into the unabashedly erotic. However, historically, the region has not been receptive attractions of this nature. "Love Land," China's first ever sex theme park was torn down in 2009 before it even opened because officials said it was an evil influence on society.

"Sex has always been a taboo in Chinese society," said Cheng. "But it's a part of our lives and a very natural thing — why can't we discuss it openly and generously?"
