Just when Teresa’s world is returning to normal after serving her 11-month prison sentence, husband Joe Giudice must step up to face his 41-month sentence in the fraud case. Joe is forced to leave his family behind for the time being, and he plans to use his time behind bars to his advantage. EW has an exclusive clip from Sunday’s episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, revealing the husband and wife discussing their hopes and fears for the jail sentence the day before Joe leaves.

Despite the somber circumstances, the seasoned couple decides to focus on the positive aspects of the coming months. “I just wanna go in and get it over with,” Joe says. “You paid your debt. I’m ready to pay my debt.” After the Giudice duo filed for bankruptcy in 2009, the IRS found large sums of income that were not declared in the filing. In addition to the prison sentences, the couple was ordered to pay $400,000 in restitution.

During her time in prison, Teresa focused on her spirituality and penned a tell-all book, Turning Tables: From Housewife to Inmate and Back Again. Joe shares that he also plans to make something of himself while incarcerated. “You either learn two things in there. You either learn to become a criminal or a better person,” he says. “So, I’m gonna try a better person.”

Find out what happens next in this week’s episode. The Real Housewives of New Jersey airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
