Since leaving the Church of Scientology after 35 years, Leah Remini hasn't held back, writing a book and creating a TV series about the secretive organization. But in a new interview, the King of Queens star claims there's one person in Scientology who could "end this": Tom Cruise, the church's most prominent member.

Remini sat down with Bill Maher on this week's Real Time to talk about Scientology, and how she's spent the past several years speaking out against the church. And she also revealed that she first heard some details about Scientology from watching Maher's documentary, Religulous. (Though she later found out he didn't quite get it right.)

She explained to Maher that she still feels sympathy for current members of the church, because they truly feel like they're on the right side. "We thought we were helping," she said. "I know the people who are still in are under this spell of doing good for the world, because that's what the organization is disseminating."

But she agreed with Maher that the organization's most famous member could "end this singlehandedly" if he wanted to—whatever that might actually mean. "[Tom Cruise] could end this singlehandedly," Maher said. "He could end this. Correct," she said. "Because they are saying he singlehandedly is clearing the planet, is changing the planet, so most Scientologists believe."

To be clear, the Church of Scientology has frequently spoken out against Remini and accused her of lying simply to get attention and make money. They created an entire website to speak out against her A&E show, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath. "Leah Remini has repeatedly disparaged and exploited her former faith for profit and attention through a series of failed publicity stunts," the church has written in a statement. "Leah Remini needs to move on with her life and career."
