U.S. Ebola victim Thomas Eric Duncan‘s fatal battle with the disease will be explored in a memoir by Duncan’s fiancee, Louise Troh.
Troh is set to write a book about her journey from Liberia to the U.S. and how her and Duncan’s decades-long romance ended with Duncan’s death. Weinstein Books, The Weinstein Co.’s publishing joint venture with Perseus Books Group, will publish the still-untitled memoir on April 28, 2015.

“The love of my life and the father of my son came to America to marry me,” Troh said in a statement. “It was supposed to be the first happy day of a new life of joy for us all. But before we could make our new family, he died a terrible death in a quarantined room. … I am writing this book to tell people about Eric, about our love story, about our family, and about my faith that has been tested but not broken.”

The memoir is set to be Troh’s first public account of her experience. Duncan became the first man diagnosed with the Ebola virus on U.S. soil in September. He died on Oct. 8.
“This is a heartbreaking, emotional family story. Spanning continents and decades, Louise shows faith and grace through it all,” Harvey Weinstein said.

Perseus Books Group CEO David Steinberger added: “Louise Troh’s account of Eric’s life and the aftermath of his death will put a human face on an issue that has gripped the entire nation.”
Weinstein Books editorial director Amanda Murray acquired world rights to Troh’s memoir from literary agent Scott Mendel of Mendel Media Group.
Troh’s book is just one of several Ebola-themed projects in the works, including a limited TV series based on the nonfiction best-seller The Hot Zone, from Ridley Scott and Lynda Obst, and a CNN Films documentary about deadly diseases.
