Oscar de la Renta was loved by fashion's elite, Hollywood stars and global activists alike—many of whom attended his funeral Monday in New York City.

Hugh Jackman and wife Deborra-Lee Furness, Diane Sawyer, Barbara Walters, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Diane von Furstenberg. Chelsea Clinton and husband Marc Mezvinsky, and Matthew Broderick were among those at the designer's memorial, held at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

Mr. de la Renta passed away on Oct. 20 at the age of 82. Throughout his illustrious career, he dressed everyone from Jackie Kennedy to Jennifer Garner. One of his final, most memorable dresses was worn by Amal Clooney (née Alamuddin) when she married George Clooney this past September.

And while countless stars adored Mr. de la Renta in life and in death, Sarah Jessica Parker's tribute to him was particularly poignant and heartfelt. In a piece published in The Hollywood Reporter, the 49-year-old actress described the designer an "otherworldly" talent she was honored to work with and have as a friend.

She wrote that she was thankful "for his work and for the personal relationship he allowed me to have with him," adding, "He gave so much, and I think everybody who had the chance to be on the receiving end appreciated him."

Parker remembered Mr. de la Renta as "a muscular singer" who "delighted in any opportunity to create a festive environment."

"It also needs to be said," she concluded, "that there was no one more handsome."

Mr. de la Renta is survived by his wife Annette Engelhard and son Moises de la Renta.
