1 seriously injured in Harrison Twp. auto accident

HARRISON TWP. -- One person suffered serious injuries in a head-on collision at Route 45 and Cedar Road on Thursday afternoon, according to Harrison Township Police.

The two-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m.

The patient, who had to be removed from the vehicle by emergency responders, suffered serious bodily injuries and was transported to Cooper University Hospital, Camden, for treatment, police said.

Two others suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment.

Patrolman Kenneth Rodgers is investigating the accident with the assistance of Sgt. Matthew Neely and Patrolman Kurt Pflugfelder. No charges had been announced as of Thursday night.

Assisting on the scene were Mantua Police Department, East Greenwich Police Department, Ewan Fire Company, Harmony Fire Company, East Greenwich Fire Company, Gloucester County EMS and Inspira Paramedics.

The intersection was closed while crews aided the injured and cleared the wreck, but has since been reopened.
