Winter isn’t coming, it’s already here. And tis’ the season for slow Wi-Fi if you plan on decorating your home with lots of Christmas lights. According to the Guardian, those holiday staples are interfering with the internet speed for residents in the UK.

Regulator Ofcom launched a new app that tests coverage in homes, and warns of said struggle. The company concluded that up to six million homes and businesses could have better broadband connection if it weren’t for wireless networks being improperly set up or electronics such as microwave ovens and Christmas light interfering.

Ofcom found that while more than 25% of homes in the UK have “superfast” broadband connections of more than 30 megabits per second, 8% of households can’t get a connection of more than 10 megabits per second. Perhaps it’s time to switch to Li-Fi.
