Wale Wants A Grammy So Badly He Pleaded To The Wrong People To Give Him One

We heard him, though.

Wale has never been shy about his desire to be acknowledged by the Grammys. He's even called it an "obsession."

But his latest plea may have come on the wrong platform.

"ABC, don't forget me Grammy time," the rapper pleaded during a performance of "The Girls On Drugs" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Tuesday night. One problem: ABC doesn't broadcast the Grammys -- CBS does.

Oh, and another problem: CBS doesn't choose the Grammy winners -- the Grammy committee does.

It's all good, though. I gotta salute Ralph's passion. Plus, after watching the performance, I agree that he's got a strong case that he should be considered to hit the stage on that night next February. With the help of a live band and singer Tre from UCB, he gave a live TV rap performance that translates through your screen in a way that many don't.

“My slight obsession with Grammy is that it’s my opportunity to be like, 'OK, world,'" Wale told MTV News earlier this year. "[My music’s] for the ’hood, but it’s so important that it penetrated through that and it’s in the hands of [a mass number of] people."

In 2013, the MMG rapper was nominated for Best Rap Song, but he's got bigger aspirations.

“I feel like a Grammy will enable me [to be] like, 'Bro, this is my story.’ I’m from Washington D.C. and I was able to make it out.”

In addition to "The Girls On Drugs," Wale performed "The Matrimony," his Usher-assisted single also from The Album About Nothing.

Grammys, take notice.
