Other fine arts activities: Wind symphony and debate.

How long have you played the violin: "This is my fourth year playing the violin, I started playing in seventh grade. I play percussion in wind symphony. There are multiple reasons why I decided to play the violin, one being it was the most comfortable to hold. I wanted to be in orchestra and I have continued to play the violin because I like it a lot."

Have you tried other string instruments: "My sister plays the viola, so I tried that at home. I liked it. Basically, it's just a little bigger.

Why do you enjoy playing in the orchestra: "It's the environment. Everyone is really supportive of each other."

What are you working on now: "We have solo and ensemble contest coming (this week) and I am in a trio and a quartet. The quartet is playing 'The Bird' by Hayden and in trio we are playing 'Suite in B Flat Major' for three violins by Georg Telemann."

Something special happen at last concert: "We organized to give a bouquet of carnations to Mr. Frie (orchestra director.) I was inspired by a concert I watched over the summer and they gave the conductor flowers afterwards. The timing worked out as we were selling carnations on Valentine's Day, the day of the concert."

Most challenging skill on violin: "There is no one thing that sticks out, but there are a lot of variables you need to focus on at the same time, such as tone and rhythm so balancing it all together I would say is a challenge."
