Young Thug Calls Himself the New Tupac Shakur

Young Thug is really feeling himself after releasing his latest album, Beautiful Thugger Girls, and apparently the new release has him in a Tupac state of mind. The Atlanta rapper recently compared himself to the late great rap legend on Twitter.

"I dropped E.B.B.T.G. on 2PAC'S bday because I'm the #NewPac. I feel like I'm the thug he didn't get to become," Thug tweeted this morning, adding the hash tag, #SoImGoinFinishWhatHeStarted along with an emoji of a woman getting her hair cut.

Rappers comparing themselves to the rap icon has become cliche these days. It's happened a few times in the last couple months alone. Back in April, Troy Ave called himself the second coming of Makaveli during an interview on The Breakfast Club. “I go in the mothafuckin’ clubs and niggas goin’ crazy," he said. "‘Oh shit, that’s Troy Ave, nigga it’s the second coming of 2Pac, it’s NewPac.'” A few days later, he release the street album, Dope Boy Troy Vol. 2: NuPac.

A week later, Boosie BadAzz pulled a similar move in an interview with DJ Vlad, announcing he would drop a project called BooPac, in reference to Shakur. “I know it’s gon’ be a big ol’ thang, but it’s in my heart,” he said. “That’s what I want to do. I’m naming it BooPac. It’s a double disc, 26 songs. Because I’m my generation’s 2Pac. A lotta people didn’t grow up on 2Pac. Lotta people didn’t grow up on Biggie. Those who love that kind of music grew up on me. That’s one reason I’m [doing it]. Another reason is the ‘Pac music is forgotten about now. That real music that touch you, that feel like he was brought into yo household witchu like he was yo cousin. That music is forgotten about right now.”

In other Young Thug-related news, it was recently revealed by Thugger's engineer Alex Tumay that "Feel It" off Beautiful Thugger Girls wasn't recorded in the conventional way. The track, which addresses Thug and his fiancée's relationship, was actually previewed two years ago on social media under the titled "Feel Good." But it was actually recorded in Thug's attic.
