PENINSULA, Ohio - The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad will resume its Bike Aboard service Saturday, April 1.
The service enables cyclists and hikers who use the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail to ride the train back to their beginning destination for $3. The ticket is valid for one, one-way trip per day.
The Bike Aboard service will be available during the regular train schedule on Saturdays and Sundays in April, and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays starting in May. Passengers who use the service are encouraged to arrive at the station of their choice 10 minutes before the train's scheduled departure time.
"Bike Aboard is a great way for locals and visitors to enjoy the Towpath," Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad President and CEO Joe Mazur said in a release.
A record number of bikers rode the train last year, he said.
Passengers who use the Bike Aboard service during opening weekend, April 1-2, will receive an additional free Bike Aboard ticket. In addition, passengers can enter a chance to win a free Bike Aboard season pass. The drawing will take place May 1.
The Towpath trail is currently open from Rockside Station to Akron Northside Station, but the section of the trail between Rockside Station and Canal Exploration Center will close for the season at the end of April.
