Boeing Factory Where President Trump Cheered Jobs Just Announced Layoffs

A Boeing factory in South Carolina where President Trump went to promote jobs just announced a round of layoffs.

“Our competition is relentless, and that has made clear our need as a company to reduce cost to be more competitive,” Boeing said in a statement, the Washington Post reports. The company said it would cut “fewer than 200 people” at its North Charleston locations.

Trump visited the 787 Dreamliner campus in February to praise the launch of the newest aircraft from Boeing (BA), the Dreamliner 787-10. “We are going to fight for every last American job,” he said at the time. “Jobs is one of the primary reasons I’m standing here as president, and I will never ever disappoint you. Believe me.”
