To live in New Jersey is costly, which makes it an especially tough place for first-time home buyers or those families with just one income. But if you dig deep into the listings of homes on the market across the state, buyers can find attractive homes for sale at half the price of the state's average listing price of $304,500.
In Hudson County that looks like a 467-square-foot condo with immediate access into Manhattan. Travel to South Jersey with $150,000, and a 1,608-square-foot Blackwood home could be yours.
Here's a look at what potential buyers can purchase with $150,000 in each of New Jersey’s 21 counties.

Atlantic: 635 4th St., Absecon
Nestled in Absecon and located close to the water, this Cape Cod-style home is on the market for $149,000. The 1,422-square-foot home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and is located on more than a quarter-acre of land.
To make things easier, the bayside home can come partially furnished at its current price if you request it.

Advertised as a "great first time buyer starter home," the Willingboro home has new windows, a new roof, remodeled bathrooms and a remodeled kitchen with granite countertops, according to its listing.

Believe it or not, this 1,608-square-foot Blackwood home priced at $149,000 is more expensive than the average listing price of homes in Camden County, which is $138,633, according to Trulia. Built in 1985, the multi-family home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The home was originally put on the market for $169,900 in May before being reduced to its current price.
