Allison Scagliotti is joining the eighth season of The Vampire Diaries in a recurring role.

Making her first appearance in the season premiere, the Stitchers actress will play Georgie, a research intern who is motivated by a terrible darkness from her past. The official character description says “she channels existential anxieties into a new field of study that will force her to confront her deepest fears.” Perhaps this new field will help Stefan (Paul Wesley) and company figure out what happened to Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey)?

When we last checked in with The CW drama, Damon and Enzo had become infected by something insidious in the Armory’s vault. Leaving their friends behind, the two of them hit the road on a killing spree, which eventually leads them to Los Angeles.

Scagliotti isn’t the only newcomer to the series this season. As EW previously reported, Containment alum Kristen Gutoskie will also recur in the show’s eighth season as Seline, a nanny to two young kids who is trying to figure out where she fits in this dangerous world.

Before Stitchers, Scagliotti starred on Syfy’s Warehouse 13 for five seasons. Her other credits include Person of Interest, Fresh Off the Boat, and Drake & Josh.

The Vampire Diaries returns Friday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. EW’s Samantha Highfill will be moderating The Vampire Diaries panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.
