Police are hunting for a man on the run after he absconded from his bail hostel.

Luke Jones, 25, raped a woman in Manchester city centre and was jailed in 2012.

He was released on September 16 and ordered to stay at the hostel in Bury but has since gone off the radar.

Greater Manchester Police are now looking for him and warn that he could pose a risk to the public.

Detective Sergeant Steph Parker said: ‘We are following a number of lines of enquiries in our efforts to trace Luke Jones but have so far been unable to find him.

‘We believe he may be in the city centre area but it is possible that he could be in other areas of Manchester.

‘I would urge anybody with information about his whereabouts to contact police. Do not approach him but call police immediately.’

Anybody with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 2149 of 23/09/16, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
