Ever since news broke that Melania Trump would not be moving immediately to Washington, D.C., when her husband takes office, there's been speculation that Donald Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka, could take on the role of a surrogate first lady in her father’s White House. But Ivanka firmly denied those rumors during an interview on Good Morning America, telling Deborah Roberts, “There is one first lady, and she’ll do remarkable things.”

The full interview airs on 20/20 on Thursday, and Roberts says Ivanka told her the speculation about her role in the White House was sexist. “I think it’s an inappropriate observation,” Ivanka says in the clip.

It was confirmed earlier this month that Ivanka will not take a job in her father’s White House at this point, although she is stepping down from her role in the Trump Organization and resigning from her fashion label. Her husband, Jared Kushner, has been appointed as a senior adviser to the president-elect.

Roberts says Ivanka also told her she's still friends with Chelsea Clinton despite the contentious campaign.
