Hearing Monday for man charged in crash that killed two in Bayonne

The 25-year-old man charged in the 2015 crash that killed two men crossing Route 440 in Bayonne is due in Essex County court on Monday morning.

A status hearing is scheduled for Waqas Ibrar at 11 a.m. He is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide for the Nov. 2 that killed Tyler Sellers, 20, and Sabore Worrell.

During the last hearing before Superior Court Judge Ronald Wigler, defense attorney Jeffrey Garrigan said a private investigator was being hired to recreate the crash. Authorities allege Ibrar was driving more than 100 mph when he struck the friends.

An update on the private investigation is expected to be discussed during the hearing.

The case, which is being handled by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Tom Zuppa, is being heard in Essex County because a family member for one of the victims works at the Hudson County courthouse.
