Cops: DeSales student molests woman sleeping next to fiance in dorm

A DeSales University student is accused of sexually assaulting a sleeping woman and intentionally crashing a car soon after he was confronted, police said.

Nicholas Marcantuono, of Pittstown, New Jersey, reportedly told officers he crashed the car on purpose in the early morning of April 29, and had "hurt a lot of peoples' feelings."

The 19-year-old Marcantuono was arrested Thursday and charged with aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault. He is free on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Marcantuono's attorney, Christopher Gray, did not immediately respond to a message asking about the allegations.

University spokesman Tom McNamara said Friday Marcantuono is on interim suspension; he cannot attend classes and is not on campus. McNamara declined to comment on the allegations, except to say the university was cooperating with police.

Upper Saucon Township police said the victim reported she was sexually assaulted by Marcantuono in the early morning of April 29, while she was asleep in a room in Donahue Hall.

The woman was sleeping next to her fiance, when she felt a hand on her breast and then her genitals, police said. The woman tried to push the hand away, and when the touching did not stop, she sat up and saw Marcantuono walking away from the bed, police said.

The woman confronted Marcantuono, who then left the room, police said.

A little less than two hours later, police were called to a rollover vehicle crash on Weyhill Drive in the township.

Marcantuono was driving the vehicle and was the only person inside, police said.

Marcantuono reportedly told officers he intentionally crashed the car and had "hurt a lot of peoples' feelings."
