Missing 19-year-old who left Vestavia Hills home found safe

UPDATE: Police say Nichols has been located and her family has been notified that she is unharmed.

Vestavia Hills police are asking for help locating a missing teenager.

Mary Carmen Nichols, 19, left her home early Sunday morning without her cell phone or her car. Police said she may still be in the Vestavia or Hoover area.

Madonna Merkling Nichols, the teen's mother, posted on Facebook this morning about her daughter's disappearance. "We have reason to believe she could be in serious danger," she said. She said Nichols' was missing from the home when she and other family members woke up on Sunday.
