A lot of people probably finished watching the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight thinking, "man, I should have just went to see Avengers: Age of Ultron for $90 less than what this cost me."

And the "fight of the century" may have cost the Marvel movie the record for the best opening weekend of all time. The film brought in an insane amount of money this weekend, racking up $187.7 million stateside, but it still couldn't top the $207.4 million record set by the first Avengers movie in 2012, possibly because a lot of its potential audience skipped the theater to watch the fight (or the Kentucky Derby, or the NBA or NHL playoffs), according to Variety

Avengers' huge haul did give it the second-best opening weekend of all time, and destroyed all other competition at the box office. No. 2 was Furious 7, which made $6.3 million. No. 3 was Age of Adaline with $6.1 million, and No. 4 was Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 with $5.4 million.
