Apparently there's someone who wouldn't mind another round of late-night wars.

Conan O'Brien took to Twitter yesterday to wrist-slap one of his writers after the scribe in question went on a since-deleted rant about what in his eyes is the sorry state of comedy, from what sounded like Conan's competitors in late-night TV to the lip sync battles we've grown to love to the A-lister-packed sketches regularly employed by the likes of Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel. And, quite often, Conan O'Brien.

"Comedy in 2015 needs a severe motherf--king shakeup," wrote Andrés du Bouchet. "No celebrities, no parodies, no pranks, no mash-ups or hashtag wars. I'm fat."

"Prom King Comedy. That's what I call all this s--t," read another piercing tweet. "You've let the popular kids appropriate the very art form that helped you deal. F--k...None of the funniest stuff ever involved celebrity cameos."

Let's just say, plenty of people disagreed.

"Sorry for being a bloviating elitist windbag last night," du Bouchet tweeted yesterday. "I know tons of talented people are making the stuff I enjoy s--tting all over."

After getting wind of the controversy, O'Brien—who has 16.2 million followers and still to this day famously only follows one lucky person back—figured it was time to add his 2 cents. (Which were worth $1 million in this case.)

"I wish one of my writers would focus on making my show funnier instead of tweeting stupid things about the state of late night comedy," he tweeted after du Bouchet's comments started making waves online.

Before O'Brien stepped in yesterday afternoon, du Bouchet had apparently already seen the imprudent error of his ways. After deleting his aforementioned outburst, he tweeted: "Geez I wish this many people gave a crap about my opinions when I was THE leading oncological researcher in the world."

Well, if he actually cures an ill...

Perhaps people will care for the right reasons.
