Blue Bell's Announces Four Flavors Returning to Grocer's Freezers

Blue Bell to unveil more flavors this week

With each passing day, Texans are another step closer to enjoying one of their favorite treats -- Blue Bell Ice Cream.

Blue Bell Creameries, which is expected to have ice cream back in some store freezers by the end of the month, slowly announced this week which flavors will be available in select markets on Aug. 31.

On Monday they announced Homemade Vanilla, on Tuesday they revealed Dutch Chocolate, Wednesday it was Cookies 'n Cream and the final flavor was announced Thursday -- The Great Divide.

Blue Bell recalled all of its ice cream products and halted production of their entire line earlier this summer after listeria contamination.

After months of cleaning and testing, Blue Bell will return their ice cream to grocery store freezers in 15 states through a five-phase distribution plan. Up first, ice cream produced at the company's Sylacauga, Alabama facility will be sold in Brenham, Houston and Austin, along with Birmingham and Montgomery, Alabama.

Dallas-Fort Worth and southern Oklahoma are part of the second phase of distribution and will have to wait a little while longer, but just how long remains to be seen. While the company has not said when Phase 2 distribution will begin, Kroger says it anticipates shipments to its North Texas stores two to four weeks after the first rollout on Aug. 31.

According to Blue Bell, its Alabama production facility began producing ice cream in late July. The facilities in Brenham and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma are still undergoing facility and production upgrades and are not yet producing products.
