"[Selling used DLC] would require a partnership between retailers and publishers, but absolutely, it could go that way," Hogan said. "We're absolutely interested in pursuing that. There are lots of examples where people have taken digital content and made it transferable from one consumer to another."Hogan added that GameStop is "very bullish" on digital gaming, seeing it as an opportunity instead of a threat. He touted the company's nearly 30 million PowerUp members as "data" that publishers could value in the digital world.
GameStop sells new DLC and Steam cards, but selling used DLC is a new realm altogether. Existing digital markets are typically found on the PC, and even then, many of those markets focus on cosmetic content like character skins, HUDs, sound effects, and the like.
