Oregon Ducks assistant basketball coach predicts best recruiting class in school history

The Oregon Ducks are in the mix for a handful of five-star prospects in the class of 2018, and have already landed top-60 national talent Miles Norris.

This weekend, Oregon is set to host five-star small forward Louis King and five-star shooting guard Luguentz Dort, as well as highly coveted 2019 prospect Marcus Watson.

While coaches can't talk about current targets, Oregon assistant basketball coach Mike Mennenga joined "Recruiting with Andrew Nemec" on 1080 The Fan to discuss progress the Ducks have made on the recruiting trail.

Q (summarized): How does Dana Altman's ability to blend talent on the court and showcase a players' best skills factor into recruiting?

Mennenga: "Oh, it's a huge selling point, you know what I mean? Our big thing, in here, is buying into player versatility. We want guys to come here that want to grow - not only as ball handlers, as shooters, the post-up game, being able to guard multiple offensive positions. Coach is obviously wonderful at those individual traits and doing that, and the number and film speaks for itself. But at the end of the day, it comes back to what we talked about with the staff and the team. Our team mantra here is, 'Sometimes you, sometimes me, always us.' "

Q: Putting you on the spot, Coach - true or false: This will be the best recruiting class in Oregon history.

Mennenga: "Well, hopefully next year's recruiting class will be that, too, and the following year. Shoot, why not? True, then."
